Our History

Shining Hill is a voluntary development organization based in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). Despite the backwardness of the local population in these hilly areas, persistent local political instability resulted in a lack of government and non- government development activities for decades. The Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accords in 1997 paved the way for development. Shining Hill was established on December 20, 2002 through joint efforts of local Bengalis and tribals to embody communal harmony and coexistence, with the aim of upliftment of local backward communities. The latter was officially registered as an NGO on February 15, 2005. Shining Hill has endeavored to achieve some of its goals and activities since its inception. The organization has implemented some projects as per the advice of the founders and experts which are in line with the objectives of the organization.

Shining Hill envisions a poverty-free, peaceful society ensuring equality, rights, justice and security of life for all in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

Our Mission

Shining Hill's mission is to bring about positive social and economic change among the target groups through sustainable participatory down-top development programs. Organization aims to address the root causes of poverty and deprivation.

Organizational Governance

Shining Hill is governed by an Executive Committee consists of seven members and elected by general members according to its constitution. The Executive Committee formulates the strategic directions and principles of the organization and the Executive Director conducts the overall management and representation of the organization.

Organizational Structure

As mentioned above, the organization has a 7-member Executive Committee, General Council, Advisory Council, full-time and part-time staff and Local Volunteers. The General Council, Executive Committee and Advisory Council members are from different professional background such as academician, business, development practitioners, journalism etc. The General Secretary of the Executive Committee is the Executive Director (ED) of the organization and conducts the overall management and representation of the organization.

With in the Organizational Organogram, Under the Executive Director there are four Division - one for Field Operation/Social Development Division, one for Finance Division, One for Human Resource Management and Development/Admin Division and One for Monitoring & Network Division. Program Managers, Program Officers and Unit heads are responsible for various programs or Projects implementation and report to the concerned Division head. The respective division heads report regularly to the Executive Director.
